This is a strategic grouping of the three business units ie Infrastructure Investment, Water and Construction into a major business division to harness the synergies that exists within the operating units as well to complement some of the resources and expertise in common areas of involvements. Besides there are activities which are complementary between the units and supporting services that can be rendered to each other.

Specializing in the promotion of turnkey & privatisation projects, project-financing and management, operation and maintenance of water facilities, the Infrastructure Investment unit aims to:

• expand the company’s involvement in water infrastructure projects in regional and global markets;
• invest more in privatization of water infrastructure projects to generate new recurring revenues; and
• promote the sales of the company’s products and services in turnkey and privatisation projects undertake by the company.

On BOT projects, George Kent is an equity partner of PNG Water Limited, the concessionaire undertaking the US$120 million Port Moresby water supply BOT project in Papua New Guinea. George Kent's will be the operator responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant which is being upgraded from 136 Mld to 270 Mld. The concession period of this project is 22 years commencing on 28 June 1997. With its past involvements as a promoter and lead partner in bidding for major BOT projects in Malaysia and overseas, George Kent is regarded as a major player in the Malaysian water industry.

At the present moment George Kent is undertaking the construction of the Kuala Lipis Hospital expansion. This RM97.75 million project was awarded by the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the scope of works includes design, build, complete, commission and maintain and upgrading works for the new block. The project is scheduled for completion by 25 August 2011. There are also other projects in the pipeline and George Kent is positioning itself to be a key player in the industry and expanded its resources to cover all the key areas of operations.
